We're bringing together students from different schools, backgrounds, and fields to document a living musical tradition, and to learn from each other along the way.
Every school. Every background. Every field.
You don't need to be a musician or a filmmaker. The cohort is deliberately mixed, because the best work happens when people bring different ways of seeing.
We're looking for students who can help with filming and photography, audio recording, music, research and writing, language and translation, logistics, and outreach. We're just as interested in engineers, scientists, artists, and anyone curious about how people carry culture and stories through music.
Together, the cohort will work alongside our partners at The Initiatives Foundation to record Gandharva sarangi musicians in rural Nepal, then help turn that fieldwork into a documentary and a lasting archive.
Cost should never decide who gets to go. We offer needs-based funding to as many cohort members as we can.
